Akwasi Appiah finally reveals the difference between Dede Ayew and Asamoah Gyan which led to the captaincy switch during his tenure

Previous Ghana Coach Kwesi Appiah believes the captaincy at the Black Stars should be rotational.

There have been issues with captaincy with regards to the National group.

Appiah caused a stir when he shockingly gave the arm band to Andre Ayew with meaningful chief Asamoah Gyan still in the group preceding Ghana’s support at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, a circumstance which saw Gyan resigning from the National group yet for the mediation of the President.

In 1992, the previous Ghana International was engaged with captaincy issues with his Abedi Pele, an occurrence which the previous Ghana U23 mentor has denied.

With the various issues encompassing the Black Stars captaincy, the previous Al Khartoum Coach believes the position should be rotational.

“At times this captaincy issue comes because of unfortunate Communication from Management individuals from specific individuals attempt to push their own Agenda,” Appiah told Happy FM.

“Taking a gander at the ongoing circumstance I will propose we turn the chief’s armband and furthermore a general commander delegated to talk in the interest of the players.”

The 59-year-old didn’t have his agreement restored after his two-year term as Black Stars Coach.
