Asante Kotoko are in pole position to secure the service of long-term transfer target Justice Blay after the Medeama SC Midfield Dynamo reportedly turned down an offer of a new contract.
The 29-year-old is currently left with just a month on his current contract with Tarkwa-based club, making him eligible to enter into agreement with potential suitors.
Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko SC has been a long-time admirer of the powerful midfielder since the end of his loan deal last season.
The Porcupines Warriors reignited their interest in the Black Stars midfielder before the start of the 2021-22 season but could not reach an agreement with Medeama.
Whilst the Mauve and Yellow are keen to extend Blay’s contract by offering him improved terms, it has become apparent that the player is mulling over his future and a move to Asante Kotoko is a reason behind the uncertainty.
The former Hasaacas man has been keen on a return to the Baba Yara Stadium and is likely he would join the Porcupines in the January transfer window as his contract with Medeama ends on January 18, 2022.
Blay before his injury was in a terrific form in the 2020-21 season for Medeama, featuring 16 times, and scoring three goals in the process.
Blay returned from a seven-months injury lay-off in Medeama’s home win over Karela United on match week 4 of the Ghana Premier League.
