Former Ghana international Anthony Yeboah has condemned the mode of player picking for Ghana’s national soccer teams.
Reports of various national team call-ups being exploited by GFA officers to befit their own interests have always been a myth dangling around in Ghana.
The claims of public teams’ choosing influence deepened after Ghana’s elimination from the group stages of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations but Kurt Okraku, Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, has said nobody swayed the call-ups.
Anthony Yeboah has added his voice to this discourse as he alleged, the system that have been created in the national team only favours rich kids who can pay their way over.
He claimed that, the national team is now for the topmost offer making it tough for players who truly deserved call-ups.
You can not play for the national team, If your father isn’t wealthy but we don’t use this ideology to evolve football,” Anthony Yeboah told a group of journalists at the Yegola Hotel in Kumasi, “
“ They’ve to pay money before they’re honoured, so how can our football develop? And the challenge is that all the talented players have been refuted access to the public teams and they’re missing in action,” he added.
