BREAKING: AshantiGold SC relegated to Division 2 by GFA; Find out why
GFA have relegated Ghanaian topflight side AshantiGold SC to the second division after getting themselves involved in match fixing and betting.

This is because of playing a fixed match in their final game last season against Inter Allies who had already been relegated.
It appeared that, some officials and players of AshantiGold SC have staked a bet on the game for a correct score of 5-0 but Inter Allies defender Hashmin Musah found out and intentionally scored two own goals to cancel out their slip.
After series of interrogations and thorough investigations, the GFA Disciplinary Committee have concluded their findings in which they find AshantiGold guilty of involving in betting and match fixing.
Therefore, they have decided to demote them into the country’s third tier and hand 10 and years ban from football respectively to club owner Dr. Kwaku Frimpong and his son who happens to be the CEO, Emmanuel Frimpong, all these to serve as deterrent to others.
