The Tamale District/Magistrate Court has denied a bail application for Tiyumba Ladies Coach, Iddrisu Suheiru Napari(Coach Kubli) who allegedly assaulted female referee, Mohammed Sakina Nasara while she was officiating Northern Regional Division 1b match involving Tiyumba Ladies and Soccer Missionaries.
The presiding Judge, Issifu Amadu refused to grant the accused bail due to the gravity of the case. According to the presiding judge, emotions are high in football visa-vis with the stakeholders involved, hence will not grant him bail until full disclosures by the prosecution lawyer.
This follows a prayer on the court by the lawyer of the accused, Abdul Rauf with statement that the defendant has shown remorse over the incident having spent 48 hours already in police custody after voluntarily submitting himself to the police.
However, the sitting Judge refused his plea and ordered that he should still remain in prison custody and adjourned sitting to Monday, 26th June, 2023.
It would be recalled that on Saturday 18th June 2023, ‘Coach Kubli’ allegedly launched physical assault on female referee, Mohammed Sakina Nasara in Women’s Division 1b match played at game center 3 near Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
