Experienced Ghanaian coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, has expressed his keen interest in taking charge of either Hearts of Oak or Asante Kotoko, as both renowned teams embark on their quest to find a new coach.

Following the expiration of his contract with Aduana Stars, Fabin confirmed his availability for fresh coaching opportunities during an interview on Akoma FM, making his intentions clear to the football community.

Fabin’s previous tenure at Aduana Stars saw him guide the team to a commendable second-place finish in the previous season. However, despite leading the league for a major part of the campaign, they narrowly missed out on clinching the top spot, which was ultimately secured by Medeama.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko, the reigning champions at the beginning of the season, had to settle for fourth place, while Hearts of Oak faced their own challenges and struggled, finishing in a disappointing 12th place. Both teams encountered difficulties due to the absence of a permanent coach throughout the season.

Addressing the perception that the dominance of Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the league was diminishing, Fabin refuted such claims by stating, “The duopoly of Kotoko and Hearts in the league is not declining. We should clear that misconception. Our league needs new champions to bring a sense of freshness to our domestic football. Every season cannot be exceptional for them, and ups and downs are a part of every journey. Therefore, their underwhelming performance this season will serve as motivation to improve in the next.”

Speaking about his own future, Fabin revealed, “I had signed a one-year contract with Aduana, which has now come to an end. At the moment, I am uncertain about what the future holds for me.”

He further emphasized his availability for coaching roles, stating, “Coaching is my profession, and I am open to any team that requires my services, be it Kotoko or Hearts. I am currently available, and if either of them approaches me, we will engage in discussions. If an agreement is reached, I will gladly assume the role.”

Having previously managed both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, Fabin brings a wealth of experience to the table. As these two Ghanaian football powerhouses strive for stability, the potential appointment of Fabin could provide them with the necessary guidance to rebound and regain their prominent positions in the league.
