Ex-Asante Kotoko striker, Eric Bekoe has hinted that he sees nothing wrong when there’s a need to beg players abroad to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.

The GFA has tried on several occasions to persuade and lure some players including the likes of Salisu, Tariq among others to play for the Black Stars.

After Ghana’s qualification to the World Cup, fans have mounted pressure on the FA to ignore players reluctant to play for the senior national team.

However, Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tariq Lamptey are the prime targets for the Ghana Football Association ahead of the World Cup later this year.

β€œI see nothing wrong with persuading Ghanaian born players to play for Ghana because it happens elsewhere. But I think this is the time to build the confidence in our local players to reach high standards to avoid players snubbing our national team call ups ; it’s a disgrace to the GFA,” he said per reports by Sportsworldghana.

The Black Star have been drawn in Group H of the World Cup in Qatar, and will face Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
