Ghana defender Salisu Mohammed is set to make his Black Stars debut after soo much controversies surrounding his national team appearance.
According to the uncle of the Southampton centre back Yakubu Ahmed Abacha, his nephew has promise to partake in Ghana’s Qatar 2022 World Cup playoff against old foes Nigeria.
Abacha in an interview with Kumasi-based Sikka FM 89.5 revealed that, Salisu felt maltreated by some football officials when the opportunity came to represent Ghana at the youth level.
“Salisu was really pained by the demand for money from some officials of the Ghana U17 squad then before he could make the final squad.”
“Mohammed Salisu has promised to come for Ghana vs Nigeria in the World Cup qualifiers. The alleged issue in the Black Stars camp disturbs him but he will come,” Abacha said.
Trailing the AFCON2021 that saw Ghana’s elimination from the group stages. Attempts were made by the GFA and other top football personalities to convince Salisu to join the team but the 22-year old snubbed them on several occasions.
The highly-rated defender is taking the Premier League by storm having made the most interceptions(50) so far this season.
