Hearts of Oak planning to release two of their attacking players
Kwadwo Obeng joined Hearts of Oak in 2018 from Nea Salamina FC, while Isaac Mensah arrived two years later after an impressive stint with lower-division side Nkoranza Warriors. Despite their past contributions to the team, the two players have only managed to score a combined total of five goals this season, with Obeng netting two and Mensah providing one assist.
Their poor performances have led Hearts of Oak, who are currently in 11th place with 45 points, to plan a total overhaul of the team at the end of the season, starting with these two players and potentially others. The team is hoping to establish a stronger side for the 2023/24 campaign.
Hearts of Oak had a successful 2020/21 season, winning the domestic treble with the help of both Obeng and Mensah. However, their performances have been abysmal in recent times, contributing to the team’s current poor form.
The team’s management is reportedly hoping for a fresh start and is looking to offload the two players to make way for new talent. Hearts of Oak’s next match against Berekum Chelsea at Golden City Park on Sunday is crucial for them to avoid a defeat and stay in the league.
