Yaw Amankwah Mireku, a former Hearts of Oak captain, feels that with hard work and commitment, the Phobians would be able to defeat league leaders Kotoko in the Super Clash on Sunday.
Hearts will host their fiercest rivals on Sunday, February 20, in the first ‘classico’ of the season, with the champions needing a win to close the gap on the Porcupine Warriors in the Premier League. Hearts have won the last two meetings between the two sides.
Asante Kotoko have been in sensational form this season, sitting atop the table with 36 points and having lost only two games so far in the current campaign.
As for the Kumasi giants, Amankwah Mireku feels they can be beaten despite their current state of affairs.
In an interview with Oyerepa FM, he stated that “Asante Kotoko surely, have a good team on paper coming into Sunday’s game against Hearts of Oak, but I believe with hard effort and commitment, Hearts will be able to win the game and make the supporters happy, it’s very conceivable.”
Hearts of Oak will be more determined than ever to defeat Asante Kotoko on Sunday, he believes. “Asante Kotoko have an all-round team, which makes it difficult for them to play against other teams,” he continued.
Amankwah Mireku was the captain of Hearts of Oak when they defeated Asante Kotoko to win the inaugural CAF Confederation Cup in 2011.
