The Black Stars kickstarted their preparations for the Group E African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Madagascar with a fiery training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, June 12.
A total of twenty-three talented players ignited the field in the first training session, except for the notable absences of Arsenal’s midfield maestro, Thomas Partey, and AJ Auxerre’s dynamic left-back, Gideon Mensah.
According to reports, Partey was yet to make an appearance in the camp, leaving the reason for his delay unknown. Similarly, Mensah, who arrived earlier in the day, mysteriously refrained from participating in the training session, leaving fans curious about his absence.
In another twist, the electrifying striker from Bechem United, Hafiz Konkoni, was only able to engage in the warmup and could not join the collective team training. Despite his late call-up, Konkoni trained separately, fueling expectations that he will join the team training on Tuesday, eager to demonstrate his skills.
The Black Stars’ training regimen at the Accra Sports Stadium will persist until Thursday, as they meticulously refine their tactics and build cohesion ahead of the crucial encounter. Their collective focus and drive are palpable as they strive to dominate the upcoming match.
On Friday, June 16, the team will take flight from the country to Antananarivo, where they will confront Madagascar at the illustrious Stade Kianja Barea on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
Ghana enters the game perched atop their Africa Cup of Nations Cote D’Ivoire 2023 qualifying group, boasting an impressive tally of 8 points following two resounding victories and two hard-fought draws in their initial four matches.
