Sadio Mane has explained the bittersweet feeling he felt after beating his friend Mohamed Salah to win the African Cup of Nations.
The Senegalese forward said (via 365ScoresEgypt): “I have a very sad part of me inside for Mohamed Salah. I wish we both would win the championship. I did not like the idea of celebrating in front of one of my best friends.
“Mo will remain a great player, and his achievements will not stop now, and most importantly, he will remain a close friend of mine.”
This was Salah’s second loss in an Afcon final and the defeat is clearly still weighing on his head – Jurgen Klopp confirmed the same yesterday.
It’s great to see Mane supporting Salah like this. Given the Egyptian King’s mentality, it’s only a matter of time before he bounces back strong from the result.
