On Monday 5th June, 2023, the newly posted Chief Director for the Ministry of youth and sports, Mr. William Kartey was introduced to the management and leadership of the agencies of the Ministry in a short ceremony at the conference room of the Ministry in Accra.
In a short remark before the introduction, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif indicated that it was important to introduce the newly posted Chief Director as courtesy demands.
He advised heads of the agencies to build a cordial relationship with the Chief Director and accord him the necessary support and cooperation for him to be able to work efficiently.
According to the Minister, the Chief Director possesses huge experience as far as administration was concerned and noted that, they must take advantage of his expertise and give him their maximum support for him to succeed.
On his part, the Chief Director, Mr. William Kartey expressed his excitement for having the opportunity to work in the youth and sports sector adding that he appreciates the enormous challenges bedeviling the sector and equally appreciates the human Resource available to turn the sector around.
He mentioned that, when staff put in the proper attitudes and commitment he was sure to have huge achievements as far as the growth of the sector was concerned.
He assured the leadership of all the agencies of his cooperation with them to realize the mandate and vision of the Hon. Minister and expressed his willingness and trust to count on their unalloyed support.
The heads of the agencies took turns to brief him on the state of their projects, programmes and activities and brought him up to speed on their achievements so far.
Mr. William Kartey, the former Secretary to the Council of State takes over from Alhaji Hafiz Adam who has been posted to the Ministry of Health.
Present at the meeting were the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Pius Enam Hadzide, the Acting Director of the National Sports College, Noah Bukari and some Directors and officers of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
