Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe finished 4th in his heat with 14:88 in the T54 100m in the 2023 WPA World Championship

This is a grand breaking season best of 14:80 for the only African in the T54 100M category

Raphael said even though he has been competing in long distant events, he thinks he is ready to intensify his sprinting to make it to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. The Para Athlete believes this is the time the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ghana should invest in Para Athletics in Ghana by providing an Athletics Track in Accra for Training and Competitions to improve the standards and also compete at the upcoming Paralympic Qualifiers and Grand Prix before the Games in 2024.

The team leader of Team Ghana at the Paris 2023 WPA World Championships, Henry Larbi believes there is the need to invest in the Medical and Classification for Para Athletes in Ghana which will intend identify potential Para Athletes and there should be a policy in acquiring the needed assistive devices used in Para Athletes in Ghana since our Para Athletes use outmoded para-athletics devices.

Government of Ghana, Development Organizations and Corporate Ghana should financially support the new drive for Para Sports development by the President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, Mr Samson Deen.

The facility should have all the financial Muscle to see us reach greater heights.

To qualify more Para Athletes for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games we need to invest in development of Para sports in Ghana.
