Jurgen Klopp said that there is “no doubt” that Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will be able to play in the Champions League final.
During Saturday’s FA Cup final, both players got small injuries that forced them off the field. These injuries come at a bad time for Liverpool, who are trying to win a historic quadruple this season.
Liverpool needs to beat Southampton on Tuesday night to keep the Premier League title race going, but Salah and Van Dijk won’t be there.
But they should be ready to play this weekend against Wolves, and they will also be ready for the match against Real Madrid in Paris at the end of the month.
“Will they be on the team to play Southampton? No. Virg, not at all. But that was pretty clear before the game, “Klopp said.
“They are both fine, so the goal would be for both of them to play on the weekend, either from the bench for a few minutes or as starters.
“That would be great for the game, but I don’t know if that will happen. But if that doesn’t happen, we’ll just take each day after that. There is no question about the [Champions League] final, and the Wolves game is pretty accurate. But I’d rather not [against Southampton].”
Klopp also said that midfielder Fabinho will not play against Southampton because he is still getting better from an injury.
He also said this about Fabinho’s recovery: “Things are going well, but he won’t play against Southampton.
