Shocking: The 32-year-old rejected stone is the golden boot winner in the 22/23 GPL after close of season

Bibiani Gold Stars’ striker, Abednego Tetteh, has clinched the coveted Golden Boot title in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, displaying his remarkable scoring prowess with an impressive tally of 18 goals.
Despite joining the team later in the season, the 32-year-old showcased his exceptional ability by netting 16 goals in just 19 matches, including two goals during his previous stint with King Faisal.

Tetteh faced stiff competition from Hafiz Konkoni of Bechem United and Sampson Eduku of Tamale City, who scored 15 and 14 goals respectively. However, it was Tetteh’s consistent performance and remarkable goal-scoring record that earned him the prestigious Golden Boot award.
Notably, Tetteh’s contributions as a former Hearts of Oak player played a crucial role in guiding Bibiani Gold Stars to an impressive fifth-place finish, accumulating a total of 49 points. The team ranked behind league champions Medeama SC, as well as Aduana Stars, Bechem United, and Asante Kotoko.

Throughout the season, Tetteh showcased his talent in 29 Ghana Premier League matches, earning four well-deserved Man of the Match awards. His exceptional form was highlighted by an outstanding finish to the season, where he scored seven goals in the last four games, solidifying his position at the top of the goal-scoring chart.
While Tetteh’s goal tally falls slightly short of the previous season’s record holders, Yaw Annor and Ishmael Addo, who both scored 22 goals, as well as former Kotoko striker Frank Mbella, who netted 21 times, his individual achievements remain highly impressive.
